The Falsification of the Universe (from the Truth in The Story)

Story suggests that consciousness is both a by-product and proponent of narrative and that it is through narrative that we apprehend, understand and interact with the world. An interesting exercise is to imagine how communication of any given meaning can occur without narrative.

Even mathematics, that language of substantive truths and ostensive symbols, becomes meaningless without a narrative of movement or interval between a prior state and a present state.

Narrative joins percepts and concepts together in cohesive weaves, chronotopes, and without it mathematics becomes an empty collection of meaningless truths.

Without context, moments of truth fly around like unstable atoms, refusing to adhere to a reality of time and space.
